- Announcement of Overseas Market Entry with Application Security Solution ‘LIAPP’
Lockin Company (CEO Choi Myoung Kyu) announced that it has been selected as a business entity for the 2017 Overseas Expansion Support Project of K-ICT Born2Global Center (Director Kim Jong-gap), which supports membership programs specialized for global expansion.
Born2Global Center, an organization under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, is carrying out a project to discover excellent companies with promising technologies and ideas in the ICT field and support full-cycle services for global expansion. A total of 53 member companies were selected in the first half of this year through a step-by-step evaluation of global business viability, technological excellence, and corporate capabilities.
Lockin Company was selected as a target business operator after proving the technological prowess and global competitiveness of its security solution ‘LIAPP’ that blocks application hacking. ‘LIAPP’ prevents leakage of core corporate technologies and safely protects intellectual property rights from hacking and illegal modification. To this end, it is a hybrid product that combines three currently commercialized technologies: application threat detection, application protection, and anti-hacking solutions. The three technologies were developed to complement each other’s vulnerabilities and perform efficient operations.
As the spread of smart devices increases, the app industry has become one of the most notable markets. According to the ‘App Store Analysis Report’ released by Adjust, a mobile marketing and analytics company, in August 2016, the number of new apps released in the global app store per month was only about 3,000 in 2009, but has now reached about 50,000. As the app industry expands in scale, app security has become an important topic to prevent damage caused by hacking.
The biggest security threat to mobile applications is the leakage of core information. Most hacking damages often involve the theft of important information, such as source code. Lockin Company provides security functions necessary for app operation, such as source code protection, forgery prevention, game engine protection, integrity detection, virtual machine detection, hacking tool detection, and memory protection, to block the leakage of core information of applications and defend against various hacking attacks.
Choi Myoung Kyu, CEO of Lockin Company, said, “Reapp’s greatest competitive edge is that it provides a powerful security service easily and quickly,” and added, “We are currently in the final stages of development for iOS support and enhanced security for all of our products. We are delighted to have been selected as a member of the Born2Global Center, which will provide us with the support we need as we prepare for full-scale entry into the global market starting in the second half of this year.”
Through the agreement with Born2Global Center, Lockin Company will receive consulting services on laws, patents, accounting, marketing, PR, and international certifications necessary for overseas expansion. In addition, support for participation in demo days and road shows held in various parts of the world, including the US, Europe, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, as well as local visits tailored to each country’s needs will be provided.
An official from Born2Global Center stated that since the introduction of the startup-specialized membership program, 6,160 consulting services have been provided and a total of 199.9 billion won in investment has been attracted, and that they plan to continue to promote member companies through their own website and domestic and international media promotion services for successful overseas market entry and aftercare for member companies.
Meanwhile, Lockin Company’s mobile application security solution ‘LIAPP’ won the grand prize at the 2nd Next Startup Awards in December last year. Through mobile-specific security technology, they provide services in Europe, the US, China, Cambodia, and the Middle East, including Korea, and are being evaluated for their application security capabilities.
